DJ Hire
Birmingham & West Midlands
The Jukebox DJ Company provides professional DJ hire for weddings, birthdays, private parties, corporate functions and Christmas events in Birmingham and the West Midlands. Our DJs mix live, combining the music selected by each client with the technical ability and judgement needed to shape a complete event rather than simply playing through a predetermined list of songs.
Your preferences remain at the centre of the booking. You can specify favourite genres, essential tracks, formal music, firm exclusions and the amount of microphone interaction you want. We then prepare the DJ, sound, lighting and optional live performers around your event, venue and schedule.
A Fresher Approach to Mobile DJ Entertainment
The Jukebox DJ Company was launched in late 2024 to bring genuine club-style mixing into weddings and formal private events without imposing a nightclub format on every occasion. The aim is to retain the musical skill, timing and energy of an experienced club DJ while adapting the presentation to the client, audience and venue.
Our DJs mix tracks through tempo, rhythm and phrasing, allowing different genres to connect naturally. Songs can be shortened, extended or placed within compatible musical sections rather than being played one after another with awkward pauses. This creates a more coherent performance while leaving enough flexibility to respond to the people in the room.
The team has tailored and performed at more than 1,000 events for private clients, businesses, actors, athletes and Premier League footballers. We were also selected as part of the official after-show entertainment team for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards afterparty in 2024 and 2025.
You can learn more about our background, experience and approach on the Jukebox DJ Company information page.
Tell Us What You Want to Hear
Music should be planned for the actual client rather than chosen from assumptions about the type of event. Two weddings can have completely different musical identities, just as two 40th birthdays may share very few suitable tracks.
You can shape your booking through:
Favourite genres and musical eras
Artists and tracks with personal significance
Essential songs that must be included
Music for entrances, dances, awards or announcements
Songs, artists or genres that must not be played
Instructions concerning requests from guests
Your preferred balance between different styles
A chosen final song or closing section
House, club classics, old-school R&B, current chart music, singalong pop, funk, disco, soul and Motown can be combined in the proportions you choose. If you prefer a focused sound rather than a broad mixture, that can also guide the set.
A playlist is useful, but it does not need to account for every minute. A considered selection of favourites, reference tracks and exclusions often gives the DJ a clearer brief than hundreds of songs placed in a fixed order. Given sufficient notice, we can purchase requested music that is not already held, provided the required track is legally available on UK release.
Wedding DJs Who Plan the Details with You
A wedding reception contains musical moments that cannot be left to guesswork. The entrance of the wedding party, arrival of the newlyweds, first dance, family dances and final song can all be confirmed before the date. We check the title, artist and required version so that the correct recording is ready.
Our professional wedding DJ service is planned in cooperation with the couple, venue staff, wedding coordinator and relevant suppliers. This supports a smooth transition from evening arrivals and formalities into the main live-mixed reception set.
You decide how much the DJ speaks, how prominent particular genres should be and which requests are acceptable. The DJ can be smartly presented in your requested dress code, including black tie where agreed.
Couples considering different combinations of music, lighting and live performers can also view our broader wedding entertainment options.
Birthday DJs Without a Standard Milestone Playlist
A birthday number does not define a person’s music taste. We plan birthday entertainment around the individual, their friends and the experiences connected with the celebration.
Our birthday DJ hire service is suitable for adult milestone parties, joint birthdays and surprise celebrations. Music associated with school years, university, favourite clubs, holidays, festivals and earlier nights out can provide the DJ with useful reference points.
The set can begin at a comfortable level while guests arrive or food is served, then change pace once the main party starts. Speeches, cake, photographs and surprise entrances can be incorporated into the running order without requiring every minute of the evening to be fixed beforehand.
Professional DJs for Private Parties
Engagements, anniversaries, leaving parties, reunions and other adult celebrations each require their own musical direction. An engagement may bring together two families and separate friendship groups, while an anniversary might place particular importance on music connected with the couple’s history.
Our private party DJ service can be adapted to the people attending and the way the event is intended to develop. Hosts retain control over requests, exclusions, announcements and the closing music.
The DJ can maintain a restrained background during arrivals before developing the performance through live-mixed sections. If a particular style is working well, compatible tracks can continue. When the room needs a change, the DJ can move into another approved genre without abandoning the original brief.
Corporate Event DJs Who Respect the Schedule
Business events often involve a detailed programme before the principal entertainment begins. Drinks, dinner, speeches, awards, presentations and other formal elements may all require suitable music or precisely timed cues.
Our corporate event DJ hire service can support company parties, awards evenings, launches, client functions and employee celebrations. We work from the organiser’s instructions and coordinate practical details with venue staff or the appointed event manager.
Lower-volume music can accompany arrivals and networking before the DJ introduces a more energetic set later in the programme. The organisation can define suitable genres, lyrical restrictions, brand requirements and who is authorised to request changes on the night.
Christmas Party DJ Hire
December functions can range from informal team parties to large company dinners with presentations and entertainment. Seasonal music may form part of the evening without having to dominate the entire set.
Our Christmas party DJ service can combine selected festive tracks with house, pop, disco, R&B, funk, soul, Motown and other styles requested by the organiser. Music can be timed around dinner, speeches, awards and the transition into the main party.
Popular December dates can fill early, particularly for Thursday, Friday and Saturday functions. Providing the venue, schedule and required performance period allows us to check availability accurately.
Choose a DJ-Only or Live Entertainment Package
A professional DJ, tailored music, sound, lighting and a suitable booth form the basis of the service. Clients who want an additional performance element can consider vocals, saxophone, percussion or a combination of musicians.
Available options include:
DJ Pro: a professional DJ with a tailored live-mixed set, sound, lighting and booth
DJ Pro and Vocals: the principal DJ service with three 30-minute vocal medleys
DJ Pro and Saxophone: live saxophone during selected parts of the DJ set
DJ Pro and Percussion: a percussionist or bongo player joining appropriate musical sections
DJ Pro, Saxophone and Bongo: a DJ with two live instrumental performers
A violinist may also be available, depending on the event date, musical requirements and performer availability. Visit our DJ entertainment packages page to compare the principal options.
Live Musicians Who Perform with the DJ
The musicians we use are experienced in performing alongside DJs in a party environment. Their appearances become part of the wider set rather than operating as a separate act with no connection to the music before or after it.
A saxophonist can accompany suitable house, dance, soul or funk tracks. Percussion can add live rhythm to selected disco, club and house sections. Vocalists provide planned medleys, while a violinist may suit particular event styles and music choices.
The performers do not need to play continuously. They can be introduced at carefully selected points, such as after formal dances, dinner, speeches or awards. Our live musicians and DJ extras page explains the additions that can be considered.
Professional Sound from Bose, Pioneer and Yamaha
Clear sound matters at every stage of an event. Background music should remain comfortable while guests speak, announcements need to be intelligible and the main DJ set should have the clarity and depth appropriate for the dance floor.
We use high-quality sound equipment from established manufacturers including Bose, Pioneer and Yamaha. The setup is selected using the size, layout and restrictions of the venue rather than relying only on guest numbers.
A narrow function room, large hotel suite and private bar distribute sound differently. Ceiling height, dance-floor position, seating and the allocated DJ area all affect what will work. Our mobile DJ hire service accounts for these practical differences when the equipment is planned.
You can tell us your preferred volume, although venue limits and licensing conditions must also be followed. If the building uses a sound limiter, please provide any available information during the enquiry.
Lighting That Complements the Venue
Modern event lighting helps define the entertainment area and changes the appearance of the room once the evening party begins. The arrangement is kept proportionate to the available space so that it supports the dance floor without unnecessarily imposing on the venue.
An atmospheric haze generator can discreetly enhance visible lighting beams. It does not release large clouds of fog into the guests, but its use remains subject to venue permission and the building’s fire detection arrangements.
Our equipment is modern and carefully presented. Electrical items are PAT tested, and The Jukebox DJ Company holds public liability insurance. Documentation can be provided to the venue when required.
Practical Planning Before the Event
Good preparation involves more than agreeing on music. Access, setup and communication can all affect how smoothly the service operates.
Please tell us:
The complete venue address and postcode
The name of the specific function room
The number of guests expected
The earliest time equipment can be installed
The required DJ performance and finishing times
The location of parking or loading facilities
Whether stairs, lifts or security-controlled entrances are involved
Where the DJ and any musicians will perform
Whether the venue has a sound limiter
Who will act as the main contact on the day
This information allows us to recommend an appropriate setup and identify any issue before the event. We can communicate with venue staff, coordinators and other suppliers where necessary, while keeping the organiser’s instructions central to the plan.
Experienced Club DJs for Formal and Private Events
Founder Danny has worked on the DJ circuit for more than 15 years and is well known within the West Midlands club scene. His residencies have included Gatecrasher Birmingham, Rainbow Warehouse, Spin, Rocknrolla and Oceana, with experience performing for audiences of up to 1,000 people.
That background provides technical mixing ability and an understanding of musical timing. It is then adapted to the type of booking. A wedding reception does not require the same presentation as a club residency, just as an awards dinner and private birthday need different decisions concerning volume, interaction and pace.
You can read feedback from previous clients on our DJ hire reviews page.

Request a Tailored DJ Hire Quote
Use our DJ hire enquiry form to send the event date, venue, occasion, expected attendance and required performance times. Include the specific function room and any details already supplied by the venue concerning access, sound or setup.
You do not need to finalise every song before making contact. An outline of your preferred genres, the type of atmosphere you want and any live performers you are considering gives us a useful starting point. We can then assess availability and recommend a DJ package suited to your event.
